Egypt’s Aviation Minister Calls for Investigation into Training Plane Crash
Dr. Samah Hefny, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the pilot who tragically lost his life in a training plane accident today at the Sixth of October Airport, involving an aircraft from the Egyptian Academy of Aviation Sciences.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Friday, it was noted: “Following the incident involving a training aircraft from the Egyptian Academy of Aviation Sciences at Sixth of October Airport, which resulted in the death of the instructor pilot and injuries to one trainee, Dr. Samah Hefny extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, praying for divine mercy for the deceased and strength for his loved ones.”.
The Minister directed that all necessary medical care be provided urgently to the injured trainee, ensuring continuous monitoring of her health condition and offering all required support and assistance, wishing her a swift recovery.
In a commitment to uncovering the causes and circumstances surrounding the accident, Hefny ordered an immediate and thorough investigation by the Central Administration for Aviation Accidents within the Ministry. This includes a comprehensive review of all procedures related to the incident and taking necessary legal and administrative actions based on the investigation’s findings.
The Minister emphasized that there will be no leniency in holding accountable any responsibilities or shortcomings identified by the investigations, reiterating that aviation safety is a top priority for the ministry.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation also reaffirmed its full commitment to implementing the highest standards of safety and security while working to enhance aviation safety systems and taking all necessary measures according to investigation outcomes to maintain operational efficiency at peak levels.
