Written byFerdous Saeed

Rodri, the midfielder for Manchester City and the Spanish national team, addressed recent speculation linking him to Enrique Cerezo’s presidential campaign at Real Madrid. He emphasized that he was unaware of such claims suggesting he was a key figure in the club’s future plans.

Cerezo’s campaign has been centered around promises to sign top stars and establish a strong coaching staff, which led to Rodri being prominently featured in Spanish media. However, the player felt compelled to clarify his position amid the swirling rumors.

In statements reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rodri stated that he does not know the source of these rumors and reiterated that his full focus is on representing Spain in the World Cup, distancing himself from any club-related speculation.

Rodri also confirmed that he is under contract with Manchester City until 2027, expressing satisfaction with his situation at the English club after what he described as a successful season both individually and collectively.

During his remarks, Rodri shared his thoughts on the comparison between winning the Ballon d’Or and lifting the World Cup trophy, stating without hesitation that he would choose to win the World Cup with his national team over any individual accolade.

He also praised his teammate Gavi for his character both on and off the pitch, describing him as a player with great energy and clarity despite some moments that may come across as intense during matches.

Additionally, Rodri discussed the future of his Portuguese teammate Bernardo Silva, noting that Silva has the potential to excel at any club worldwide while suggesting that his time at Manchester City may be nearing its end.

Given these developments, reports indicate that a transfer for Rodri to Real Madrid seems unlikely at this time. The Spanish club is reportedly exploring other options in the transfer market while Manchester City continues efforts to renew Rodri’s contract to secure his long-term future.

Rodri’s contract with Manchester City runs until 2027, providing the English club with a strong negotiating position regarding any future discussions about his continuity or departure.
