The Egyptian National Railways has released a statement regarding a recent incident involving train number 3994/108 (Suez to Ismailia). The collision occurred around 2:00 PM between the Al-Janain and Al-Shalufa stations in Suez, when a private car unexpectedly crossed the railway tracks at an unapproved location, coinciding with the train’s passage. This resulted in a collision that ignited the car, with flames extending to the train’s locomotive.

Emergency measures were promptly implemented, including detaching the locomotive from the rest of the train cars. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, cooled down the locomotive, and removed the vehicle from the tracks without disrupting regular rail operations. The deceased occupants of the car were transported to Suez General Hospital.

The Egyptian National Railways urges citizens to heed ongoing warnings and public awareness campaigns conducted by the Ministry of Transport and the rail authority regarding dangerous behaviors by some railway users that jeopardize lives. Despite these efforts, incidents like this continue to occur. The authority emphasizes that individuals should only cross railway tracks at designated crossings to protect lives and property and prevent similar accidents.

The Egyptian National Railways extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident, praying for patience and solace for them.
