Over 3,100 Citizens Screened and 512 Glasses Distributed in Kafr El Sheikh Medical Caravan
Medical Caravan by the Cabinet.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, reviewed a report detailing the outcomes of a comprehensive medical caravan organized by the Supreme Medical Committee and the Egyptian Fund for Health Care, in collaboration with the Egyptian Healing Bank. The caravan took place in the towns of Beela and Qalin in Kafr El Sheikh from June 7 to June 11, 2026.
The Prime Minister commended the efforts of both the Supreme Medical Committee and the Egyptian Healing Bank for providing free comprehensive medical services to citizens in villages and underserved areas. He praised the significant turnout from citizens and the positive results achieved in alleviating burdens on patients.
Dr. Naglaa Abdel-Moneim, head of the Supreme Medical Committee, reported that the caravan included various medical specialties such as internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, dermatology, ENT (ear, nose, throat), obstetrics and gynecology, family planning, and ophthalmology. Free medical consultations and treatments were provided along with necessary examinations, medication distribution, and glasses issuance. Cases requiring surgical intervention or specialized care were referred to university and government hospitals for further treatment.
The caravan successfully screened a total of 3,182 citizens, including 1,215 ophthalmology cases where 512 pairs of glasses were distributed. Additionally, 190 cases were identified for free eye surgeries. In total, 1,967 cases were treated across various other specialties with 55 cases referred to hospitals for necessary interventions.
Dr. Abdel-Moneim noted that there was a substantial turnout from citizens throughout the caravan’s duration. The initiative received widespread acclaim for the government’s efforts to provide free health services and ease access for residents in need.

Dr. Abdel-Moneim emphasized that these caravans are part of ongoing cooperation with civil society organizations and executive bodies at the governorate level to enhance health services and reach citizens where they live, particularly those most in need.
She expressed hope for continued fruitful collaboration with the Egyptian Healing Bank to expand free health services and implement more specialized medical caravans across various governorates to swiftly address citizens’ health needs.
Dr. Mohamed Mostafa was assigned as coordinator for direct field supervision of caravan activities in Kafr El Sheikh. He acknowledged the high level of coordination and cooperation demonstrated by health and executive leaders in Kafr El Sheikh during this initiative.
Engineer Ibrahim Maki, Governor of Kafr El Sheikh, visited the free medical caravan held in Shabas Amir village within Qalin city. He was accompanied by Dr. Amr Al-Bashbishi, Deputy Governor; Dr. Mohamed Abu Al-Saad, Undersecretary of Health; Ahmed Abdel-Wahid, Head of Qalin City; members of Parliament; and several executive leaders from the governorate.
During his visit, Governor Maki stated that launching these multi-specialty free medical caravans is a direct response to political leadership directives aimed at ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for citizens—especially those living in rural areas—and commended the pivotal role played by both the Supreme Medical Committee and the Egyptian Healing Bank in supporting healthcare systems while alleviating treatment burdens on vulnerable populations.
In conclusion, Dr. Abdel-Moneim affirmed that the Supreme Medical Committee will continue monitoring cases requiring surgical procedures or further treatment at university hospitals through full coordination with relevant authorities while planning additional medical caravans in Kafr El Sheikh to enhance healthcare coverage and improve service quality.
